Carol L. Barsky, MD, MBA, is Medical Director of Clinical Performance and Associate Director of Patient Safety and Quality at Yale-New Haven Hospital, and Instructor in Emergency Medicine at Yale Medical School. A graduate of Antioch College and Mayo Medical School, she trained in Emergency Medicine at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. After spending the first part of her career as a clinician educator, Dr. Barsky transitioned into clinical operations, becoming the Medical Director of two emergency departments in New York City. At the Mount Sinai Medical Center, as Vice Chair and Medical Director, she ran the hospital’s response on 9/11, and led a complete clinical redesign of the ED, including installation of the first fully electronic health record in New York City. She then completed an MBA at the Yale School of Management, and joined the YNHH management team in 2010. In March 2012, the YNHH Medical Directors Leadership Council was formed under her leadership.

Her academic interests are in clinical operations, patient safety, and quality of care.
